Lord Admiral Nelson and Brexit.

Dear old Horatio Nelson, on being informed there was a signal from the boss to withdraw from the battle, put his telescope to his missing eye, and said ” Signal? I see no signal! ” Theresa May appears to be pulling a Nelson, with Brexit tonight Monday, March 11th, 2019, Backstop? I see no Backstop!

On the 2nd, April 1801, the British Navy, Under Admiral Parker, set out to destroy the Dano/Norwegian Fleet, at Copenhagen Harbour.  Meeting stiff resistance from the Danes, Admiral Parker signalled the British Fleet to Withdraw from the battle.

Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson,  was having none of it, and taking advantage of having only one functioning eye, having lost the other in a previous engagement, chose to ignore the orders of his superior officer, by placing his telescope to the blind eye and stating to his lieutenant officer Foley, I really don’t see that signal. Then continued to engage the enemy fleet to win a famous victory. Perhaps the British PM is inspired by this example of carrying on regardless.
