One constant and devastating Illness is Throat Cancer, made all the more devasting by the affects of current medical treatments of chemotherapy and head radiation treatment. The general effect of the later, quite commonly being the burning, stiffing and weakening of muscles controlling speech and the swallow. This means many people are unable to speak effortlessly and/or directly consume meals by way of the mouth.
Now some devices do exist for aiding speech for those so affected, but so far , it seems that no such device or remedy exists for oral consumption of food and liquids. Considering all the micro devices being developed and implant into the organs etc of the human body, surly a device could be designed to operate the damaged muscles of the human throat?
