CITIZENS ASSEMBLY – FIXED DAIL TERMS & DEMOCRATIC PARAGONS & SHANE ROSS! the word on the street, wishes to congratulate Shane Ross, on his success in promoting to the Citizens Assembly a proposal to advocate a Constitutional Referendum for an amendment ,  setting a fixed term for the lifespan of a Dáil term of office  and other than in certain  exceptional circumstances, restricting the powers of An Taoiseach to advise An Uachtarán na hÉireann to dissolve the Dáil and call a Dáil election !

The Nation and its Citizens are being given to understand that this in the interest of the expression of their democratic will as expressed in the outcome of the ballot that determined the distribution of seats in the relevant Dáil! That this actually radically empowers a small minority of TD’S beyond their elective mandate, seems not to be an issue for those whose personal interest is advanced by this proposition.

Now  while our  many Democratic Paragons are advocating  and promoting  multiple items supposed to empower the Citizens of  this State in the delivery of a truly Democratic process, strange to  say, these same paragons seem to be totally opposed to promoting the notion of a Constitutional limit to the number of  consecutive Dáil terms a person may hold and/or stand for election to. A cynical person might suggest that’s something that requires putting the interests of the Citizens Democratic empowerment above one’s own self-serving notions!

As we all know, as a result of matters arising from aspects of the recent Belfast trial, relevant bodies and authorities in this jurisdiction, are reviewing multiple factors and issues involved in the conducting of similar such trials in this State! the word on the street wishes to advocate to those relevant bodies and authorities to give serious consideration to introducing the option for a jury to return verdicts as currently exist under Scots Law, that is to say, one verdict of conviction, that is to say, Guilty  and two of acquittal,  that is to say, one of Not guilty  and one of Not proven!  This format is strongly supported by the Scottish  Rape Crisis Centres! Perhaps their Irish colleagues might like to consult with them as to their perception of the positive contributions such an introduction of this aspect of Scots Law would impact such trials in this jurisdiction!

Kevin Sharkey for President! Racism or Chauvinism or 0pportunism?

The Tonight show on TV3, with  Matt Cooper and Ivan Yates, 11pm, Tuesday 3rd April. Featuring a potential Presidential Candidate, one Kevin Sharkey, was very interesting and entertaining, possibly even informative! One of the entertaining moments was the paradox of a member of a party whose title translates as” our selves alone, “refuting the chauvinistic aspirations of the potential Presidential Candidate who was echoing American President Donal Trump’s battle cry, “our land, our people first”

Having seen Kevin Sharkey previously on a chat show, sporting a jersey emblazoned with the legend ” I AM A RACIST ” and then stating that this was not to be interpreted as considering others being of an inferior status but a wish to promote Ireland and the Irish first in national policies! One is given to wondering does this person have the understanding of the very considerable difference in meaning of those two frequently abused words chauvinist and Racist, and if not, is such a person of the caliber required to represent Ireland on the international stage! Or is this progressing on the principle, there is no such thing as bad publicity on the road to celebrity status?

Encouraging aspects of the various verbal exchanges ( one could hardly say debates ), were hearing some of the guests speaking of and advocating somethings, about how our so-called Democracy could and should be reformed, such as reducing the team of office of the President, and with a compulsory election for the office! The regular readers of this, the word on the street are familiar  with streetdogs, blog, the word on the street advocacy of change and reform  of the election of Candidates for Public Office,  including  a limitation on the number  of  consecutive terms a person may be permitted to stand for election and hold office  as a TD! Again it was encouraging to have some of the panel stating that the time was ripe for a conversation on the style and mechanisms of our Democracy!

Due Process has been rendered to accused and accuser, in accordance with the law, and who would or should question the conclusion of those who did their solemn duty as lawfully required of them, in the appropriate manner. Most certainly not or its readers, nor would entertain or publish any readers comments that do anything other than respect the prestige and lawful status of the outcomes of any Due Process in any  Jurisdiction!

Rather the most pertinent questions  to be answered are those concerning how  readily  admitted facts of activities of causal, unprotected, random sexual activities both  singular and in a relay with an absolutely unknown individual, impact on those other  innocent parties  to these affairs,  namely the partners and another immediate family members, who must surely be as distraught as any of the principal participants , not only to actual occurrence of these activities but equally to the public acknowledgement of said matters

Have you noticed how softly, low tone, gently, almost in undertones, riding piggyback on the main Referendum issues concerning the 8th. Amendment of the Constitution, those who wish to promote and support a Referendum on granting a Constitutional Right to those aged sixteen, to the right to vote in any form of election, are conducting their campaigns?

Strange is it not, that while making claims of wishing to involve our young people meaningfully,  in the democratic processes of the State, and giving them their voices in matters of public concerns affecting them, these same promoters and supporters seem oblivious to defects of the current supposed democratic elective process!

These sixteen-year-olds will find themselves voting ad infinitum, in the main, for the same party selected hacks, the new ascendancy political barons, reigning with personal and family-based local and national power and political influence for forty years or more! Strange that this desire to empower these sixteen-year-olds with voting rights pays absolutely no attention to those kinds of issues which would engender the kind of Democracy that would actually empower the entire electorate, such as, a Constitutional limit as to how many consecutive terms an individual may stand for election to any elective position.  Also  how about the fact that you can only vote for a candidate, nothing in the system allows you to actually vote against a candidate, you’re only options are to vote for the least objectionable candidates first etc and unless you wish to devalue your Proportional Representation Vote, place the most objectionable candidate last on the ballot paper!  or totally abstain from voting. Now if there was a box on the bottom of the ballot papers for NONE OF THE ABOVE  think of how these two changes alone would affect those new ascendancy barons and their party backers! the word on the street , wonders what its readers have to say on these and other suggestions for electoral reform?

ABUSIVE POSTS ON FACEBOOK – HOW W0RD RECOGNITION SOFTWARE EQUALS USERS PROTECTION, the word on the street,  having posted an item recently, concerning sexually explicit, and personally abusive messages, posted to a reader’s Facebook page,  has evoked some consideration as to how Facebook could provide a means for it users, to be protecting themselves from such intrusive messages, in the form of a personally controlled firewall, allocated to each individual Facebook account, permitting each individual Facebook user, to set parameters for rejecting, certain words and phrases in a given context, in respect of each incoming post to their timeline /page!

Now it has been pointed out that,if a person is a standard or ordinary member of certain online dating sites, you are not permitted to exchange details, such as phone numbers .email addresses,  or arrange for meet up details,  with other members of the site, if you are detected by the dating site breaking these restrictions, you are suspended by the online dating site !  Word Recognition Software, is the system used by the online dating sites to monitor their user’s texts between each other!

Now surely Facebook, with all its technologies, know-how and resources, should have no problems being able to develop and provide to each individual Facebook user their own personally controlled, Word Recognition systems software!

TAXI DRIVER WAYNE HURLEY PLATE 11740 OBSCENE ABUSER ON FACEBOOK! the word on the street, has viewed the obscene sexually abusive messages, sent by WAYNE HURLEY of COBH, CORK. to a young Lady’s timeline on her Facebook page, The young Lady bravely shared these messages publicly on Facebook.

Now if our readers view WAYNE HURLEY  of COBH, CORK. on his Facebook page, there’s a very clear picture of a Taxi, on the roof of which, there is a Taxi roof sign bearing on the driver’s side in bold capital letters the name WAYNE HURLEY  and on the passengers side, the plate number 11740 with the area code letter C. Matching markings on doors . Strange to say, on the 19th March 2018, the NTA’s Driver Check app, says there is no registered driver recorded to this plate number and advised against using unregistered drivers!

Perhaps, the NTA’s Taxis section, the National Carriage Office, an Garda,  might wish to consider how the above matters, affect female Taxi passengers safety in County Cork!

STREEDOGS.BLOG THE WORD ON THE STREET,  wonders is there not a problem with a script that is promoting the notion that a man in Ireland  2018  may throw his wife out of the matrimonial home as of a right? reference Decco in FAIR CITY, one would have expected that this would be an issue of concern for the advocates of women’s rights!

A report to the word on the street, has been informed of a new style of interhospital transfer policy attempted by a senior medic, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, in the aftermath of the Beast from the east Blizzard!

The reader concerned about this debacle was being examined as a GP referred outpatient of Beaumont Hospital’s respiratory department and having been confirmed as a Lung Cancer patient, Beaumont Hospital, quite correctly, referred the individual to, James Hospital, the appropriate specialist Hospital for the treatment of  Lung Cancers. where the individual spent three weeks for a successful course of treatment, before being discharged to their home!

After being at home for two days, the individual being in great agonizing pain was rushed in a neighbour ‘s car to Beaumont Hospital A&E, and was admitted to a ward.      An examination determined a fluid accumulation complication, related to the Lung Cancer treatments, as being the problem in need of further treatment.

On the evening of the fourth day after the individual’s admission to Beaumont Hospital, our reader  was informed, that with James Hospital being the appropriate Lung Cancer Specialist Hospital, and being where the reader had been treated, a transfer, under the auspices of Beaumont Hospital, was being arranged to James Hospital for the individual!

on the evening of the fifth day, our reader was informed by a senior medic, that a discharge of the individual as a patient of Beaumont Hospital would take place the next day and that our reader was to then make their own way directly, on that said day, to James Hospital. When asked how our reader was to achieve this objective without transport by ambulance, said senior medic suggested our reader use Dublin Bus, Public Transport Services! Strange to relate, our reader was not impressed by this turn of events! these verbal exchanges were taking place directly in front of five other patients and several members of Beaumont Hospital staff! the word on the street, are happy to report to you, your fellow reader’s successful resistance to this unacceptable attempt by said senior medic to negate Beaumont Hospital’s duty of care to their patients in these matters! This patient was, on the sixth day, under the auspices and expenses of Beaumont Hospital, transported to James Hospital by taxi!

The question is, how many others have been taken for a ride, { pardon the pun! ] by being sent on their way, all alone via public transport to other hospitals like this???
