2nd Brexit Referendum, Italian style?

Streetdogs.blog the word on the street understands that  for a referendum result in Italy  to be valid,  it must have a required 70% of the entitled electorate to actually partake in the voting in the  said referendum, and a passing of the referendum  itself also requires that 70% of those who voted in the referendum, voted in favour for the proposition contained in the referendum.

It might well serve our erstwhile neighbours across the Celtic Sea to adopt this convention in any potential forthcoming referendum on a 2nd Brexit Referendum,  with perhaps this minor additional feature, given that an official title for our neighbour’s entity is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island. Would it not be appropriate that each of its constituent Kingdoms and it’s Principality should be holding their own referendum on Brexit with these rules? Could anyone then reasonably complain about the outcome?

Maria Bailey, Angela Kerigan, Alan Shatter, strange bedfellows?

The Supreme Court has declared the conduct of the  Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee ( PAC ) in respect of Angela Kerins former Rehab Group  Chief Executive,, to be unlawful, A denial of her rights as a citizen.

How interesting it is then that Maria Bailey TD, should have her rights as a citizen to take recourse to the Irish Courts, belittled and for her to be subjected to public humiliation,  and her career threatened, simply because the lady is a member of the Government,  and holding Public Office,  is the lady not also a citizen of the State? Surely it is for the courts to determine each and every citizen’s correctness in the pursuit of their grievances, be they Politician, Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker etc.  Alan Shatter’s story it seems has some vibrant resonance with the way in which these two Ladies have been treated, by the media and members of the political establishment.

Streetdogs.blog the word on the street would like to ask it’s readers how many of you are aware of the Office of Public Works strategic review of the Phonix Park?                                 One would suspect very few throughout this island, considering the very, very restricted publishing of the review by way of easily accessible sources, which the Naven Road Community  Council ( NRCC ) describes as a ” very expensive, slick, 199-page  coffee table book.”  that’s low on content and detail.                                                                                             Source, Jack Gleeson, Northside People. 15 – 21 May 2019.

It’s not beyond the imagination to see future developments of the suggested euphemistic ” Retail Units ” being developed into Eddie Rockets and SuperMacs and MacDonalds  Burger joints.

National Development Programs, to be or not to be, that is the question. Asks, Conor Skehan, utilitarian goals or broadly social ones? ( Maybe Both? ).

In the  COMMENT page of the Sunday Independent of Sunday, April, 28 th. 2019.        Conor Skehan, Lecture at the Technplogical University of Dublin, and former Chair of the Housing Agency Puts the question, should the multiple stakeholders in the social and economic advancement of the Irish State and various aspects of National Development plans such as National Broadband, the Metro and the Children’s Hospital, consider if they are missing the point by focusing on failures rather than on the value of constant endeavour to achieve for the future, against all the odds. Any answers??

Netflix, Kate & Gerry McCann. The Crown Prosecution Service mystery.

The readers of streetdogs.blog the word on the street, and the general public in several countries will be aware of the return of the sad story of Madeline McCann to our screens, courtesy of Netflix, in eight episodes, supposedly hoping to shed new light on the events.

Many of our readers are wondering, considering, the British have a legal situation, where, if a British Citizen(S) commits a crime(s) abroad, which would equally be considered a crime if committed in Britain,  then that person(s), could on their return to Britain, be charged under the British legal  system, with the said  Crime(S), as if they were indeed committed in Britain.

Remembering that Kate and Gerry McCann left not one infant child, but three infant children, alone, unaccompanied, unprotected in a hotel room, while they went and eat and drank with their friends, a considerable distance from the children. Bearing in mind that these two people are highly educated, trained professionals, who would be well aware that in different circumstances such as in the course of their professional endeavours, they became aware of child neglect, that they would be legally and professionally obliged to inform the authorities of a potential offence of child neglect, etc.

How then, people are wondering, is it that two parents who jointly, wilfully and cynically, abandoned three infants, to fend for themselves alone in a strange foreign hotel.  have not been charged with any offence? That’s another mystery in the closet of the Kate and Gerry McCann story. If a paid Nanny/childminder had done this, they would be in jail.

Dr. Who, Brexit, & Theresa May.

Perhaps the answer to all of the British PM’s,  problems with the House of Commons and the House of Lords, is awaiting her at the Laboratory of the Physics of Quantum Information at the Moscow Institute of Physics & Technology ( MIPT ). Where  Lead researcher, Dr. Gordey Lesovik,  speaks about an experiment with results that apparently defies the second law of thermodynamics, in an outcome that is loosely described as building a time machine and reversing time!  These matters are reported in the journal  “Scientific Reports ” says Jodie Whitaker, in an article in the Irish Independent.

Perhaps The British PM, could, with, Dr. Gordey Lesovik  & co’s assistance, travel back in time and solve all her and the United Kingdom Of Great Britain  and Northern Ireland’s  ( is it not interesting  how Northern Ireland is not actually automatically included as part of Great Britain? ) problems with Brexit and see to it that David Cameron, never became Leader of the Conservative Party!!!!!

Lord Admiral Nelson and Brexit.

Dear old Horatio Nelson, on being informed there was a signal from the boss to withdraw from the battle, put his telescope to his missing eye, and said ” Signal? I see no signal! ” Theresa May appears to be pulling a Nelson, with Brexit tonight Monday, March 11th, 2019, Backstop? I see no Backstop!

On the 2nd, April 1801, the British Navy, Under Admiral Parker, set out to destroy the Dano/Norwegian Fleet, at Copenhagen Harbour.  Meeting stiff resistance from the Danes, Admiral Parker signalled the British Fleet to Withdraw from the battle.

Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson,  was having none of it, and taking advantage of having only one functioning eye, having lost the other in a previous engagement, chose to ignore the orders of his superior officer, by placing his telescope to the blind eye and stating to his lieutenant officer Foley, I really don’t see that signal. Then continued to engage the enemy fleet to win a famous victory. Perhaps the British PM is inspired by this example of carrying on regardless.

Comic Relief for Minister Simon Harris. Children’s Hospital &Aircraft Carriers!

Amidst all Minister Simon Harris’s, woes about cost overruns and location suitability disputes, concerning the new National Children’s Hospital, Located at St. James Hospital.

Minister Simon Harris, might give himself a bit of comic relief and something to smile at,  by observing the comments of Micheal Portillo, speaking on the BBC program, This Week,  last night, Thursday, February, 14 th. Were Mr. Portillo, comments on the Royal Navy,  building three new Super Aircraft Carriers, which he suggests, cannot be deployed in any form of conflict situations,   as there are not enough surface ships in existence to protect these three New Super Aircraft Carriers from attack by enemy submarines, aircraft and surface ships,  meaning they can be torpedoed and bombed successfully out of existence by such enemy forces. Interesting don’t you think people?

Lawmaker Micheal Healy-Rae & Traffic Laws, But not for me, he says. I’m special!

Question for Minister Shane Ross and the many others concerned with various aspects of road safety, traffic management,  and the enforcing of driver compliance with all relevant aspects of the Road Traffic Acts, etc.

Considering there is video evidence, a public admission on various media venues and a pathetic abuse of the Irish Nurses & Midwives cause,  as a justification for Mr Healy Rae TD’s deliberate, premeditated breach of the legal sanctity of the Bus Lane on the M7.

Will any prosecution of said individual take place, as would occasion for any mere citizen?  Or can a person go rob a Bank and claim they did it in support of the Irish Nurses & Midwives pay dispute?  What would a Judge have to say about such a defence? Or as Mr Healy Rae TD, attempting to justify his behaviour on a  TV discussion panel, in effect said, “others do it, so it’s ok for me to do it, especially as my business and political concerns are more important than anyone else’s ”

Comments anyone?

Ireland Am, and non-stop Taxi Drivers!

One of streetdogs.blog the word on the street, readers, has commented on Ireland Am presenter Alan Huges various statements on Junior Minister, FG’s TD, Jim Daly’s proposal for the establishment of an Uber-style taxi service for rural areas, dubbed Ruxi, primarily ( but not exclusively ) to cater for aspects relating to rural pubs maintaining their business.

During the three presenters discussion of this item, Presenter Alan Huges had a little rant about experiencing difficulties with waving down Dublin Taxis with their Taxi sign light switched on. giving out that it was a common practice for  such Taxis to pass him by, and stating some reasons why he believed they were refusing  to stop, and stating they had no business in failing to stop for him, as they are providing a service  and are obliged to stop for him when he puts his hand out and they have their roof sign light on.

Our reader states that Alan Huges, along with many other members of the public have an incorrect  understanding in this regard, and states that a Taxi driving along the street with its light on is plying for hire on the public highway,  and when a member of the public puts their hand out for the taxi to stop, the driver has the right not to pull in and collect the said member of the public, however, if the driver does pull over having been waved down  by said member of the public, the driver is obliged  ( subject to certain exceptions ) to accept the fair.

Equally many members of the public are unaware that when they arrive at a Stand, a legal Taxi Rank,  and there are several taxis at the stand, then the member of the public is not obliged to take the first Taxi on the rank, but may walk along the line of ten Taxis and  select the eighth  Taxi, if that’s the one  they prefer the look of and that Taxi Driver is legally obliged to accept them as a fare ( subject to certain exceptions ), without regard to the presence of other taxis on the rank.

Anyone like to comment, Maybe Alan Huges?
